Have you ever tried brigadeiro? If you haven’t, you definitely should!!! Seriously…. they are Brazil’s most beloved sweet… a birthday party without them is not really a party… binge-watching without eating brigadeiro straight from the pan is the same as going to the cinema and not having popcorn! Children love it, teenagers love it, and grown-ups love it too! I certainly do!!! And they are SO EASY to make… just the perfect treat!
So, as my blog is all about creating a joyful home, I thought it would be nice to share with you all, my mum’s super yummy recipe for these little bites of happiness!
Ingredients:
- 1 x 397g can of sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup of double cream
- 1/2 cup of roughly chopped dark chocolate
- chocolate sprinkles
STEP 1: Grease a dinner plate and set aside.
STEP 2: In a nonstick heavy saucepan, mix well the condensed milk with the cocoa powder. Then add in the double cream and the chopped chocolate and mix it well.
STEP 3: Place the pan on low heat and keep stirring constantly until the mixture is thick and shiny and starts coming away from the sides and bottom of the saucepan when the pan is tilted. You need to keep stirring, so the mixture doesn’t catch and burn.
STEP 4: Pour the mixture into the greased dinner plate and leave it to cool down until it’s firm. (You can refrigerate it for about 30 min if you are in a hurry)
STEP 5: Scatter some chocolate sprinkles on a plate.
STEP 6: With greased hands and the help of a spoon, shape the mixture into balls the size of large marbles and roll them in the sprinkles to coat.
STEP 7: And ta-dah!! Enjoy your brigadeiros! Oba… Oba… Oba!!! 😉
You can store them tightly covered at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge up to 1 week (If you can resist them).
Is your mouth watering yet? Let me know if you tried this recipe…I would love to know if you liked it! Also, you can show us some pictures using the tag #BLCfeelthejoy. Love, Ju xx
